Esher Park Avenue

Esher Park Avenue

The project involved the redevelopment of the site by demolishing the existing dwelling and the construction of new dwellings in the form of a new residential apartment block with basement car parking and a single detached home to the rear of site.

Following on from the success on another project (Battersea Bridge Road, London) Shanly Homes initially contacted Fussey Piling directly to help in getting the scheme developed and approval of the party-wall agreements. Preliminary designs were completed and method statements forwarded to interested parties to ensure the project could progress as planned.

Shanly Homes subsequently appointed HGH Groundworks as the basement and RC frame contractor for the project. In turn HGH appointed Fussey Piling to install steel sheet piles to form the retaining walls to the basement of the apartment block structure.

The ground conditions encountered were Bagshot sand over Claygate. For this reason, the ground was pre-augered to ensure the drivability of the piles.

The sections used varied between 7.5m PU18-1mm to 13.0m PU22+1mm steel grade 355GP. The piles were installed using the Kowan Hydraulic Pile Presser.

Graham Hall, Contracts & Commercial Manager for Fussey Piling said “This is the second project we have completed for ultimate client Shanly Homes and the first for HGH. Ed Cookson of HGH was very pleased with the execution of the project and told me he is looking forward to working with us again in the future.”
